Working on your feet all day can definitely take a toll on your body. The typical person can spend about 4 hours on their feet. People who have jobs where they are spending an entire shift on their feet which can be up to 8-10 hours a day.

Examples of people who are their feet constantly include: flight attendants, retail sales associates, hair stylists, security guard, nurses & healthcare professionals, just to name a few. Please share this post with someone you know who’s job requires them to be on their feet for an extended period of time.

Here are a few tips that can help you if you find yourself constantly on your feet:

  • Sit down when you’re able; the less time that you spend on your feet the better.
  • Stretch your calves. Standing on your feet all day can cause swelling in the ankles and tightness in the lower legs. Be sure to stretch to relieve some of that tension because it is more difficult for blood to circulate when there are tight muscles.
  • Soak your feet after a long night of being on your feet. Take a nice warm bath and add epsom salt to the water. Don’t have a bathtub? Invest in a foot soaker, prices start as low as $25.  Make sure to add a scoop or two of epsom salt into some warm water.
  • Anti-Fatigue mat for those of you who have a consistently regular work station consider getting an anti-fatigue mat. Working on hard tile is more stressful on the body than working on a cushioned surface like carpet or a mat.
  • Schedule a massage with a focus on your lower leg muscles and feet. The rest of your body hurt too? Book a full body massage service and get a reflexology add on.
