The other day, a client asked me an excellent question while she was on my massage table. She asked, “what role do you think massage plays in the healing process?”
Well, let me tell you what I told her.
Massage can help ease pain and discomfort, but it goes deeper than that.
Pain can start subtly, but when it’s left unchecked, it evolves into this screaming thing that demands all of your attention. You know, that twinge in your low back…turns into a full-blown ache, and by the end of the day, it’s screaming at you. At this point, it makes it difficult for you to sit behind your computer and focus on your work.
Pain can slow you down and ultimately stop you from doing what you love.
Not being able to get out of bed in the morning can make you feel defeated. If you don’t know how to troubleshoot your way out of that pain, it can feel like it’s running your life, and that can be isolating and stressful.
Not having control of that physical pain can start to weigh on you emotionally, and massage heals that too.
Massage is a stress reliever. It helps clear that mental fog that appears when you’ve just got too much swirling around in your head. It quiets the brain and brings this amazing clarity where ideas just begin to flow to you, and if you’re a writer or entrepreneur, that is essential to your success.
Massage helps you feel heard and supported.
When’s the last time that you felt that way? I know that my sessions start with asking my clients: what’s going on? How’s the body feeling? What do you want to work on today, and how do you want to feel? And then we immediately start working on those things. You spend 60-90 minutes on the table just being supported. Letting the pain ease, the stress melt away, and simply experience a transformation while on the table.
And that is what allows you to heal.
It’s more than just a massage.
When some people think of massage, they consider it to be a treat or a luxury. But regular massage sessions can play a huge part in your healing process.
When you operate from the space of feeling good in your own body without being bombarded by pain and stress, you can live life on your own terms.
And isn’t that what we all want? To create amazing things, do great work, and leave our mark on the world?
But hey, you can’t do that in constant pain. So let’s fix that!
If you’re ready to move out of your pain and begin your healing process, your next step is to schedule a massage appointment. I’d like to suggest the BodyMind session. It’s a session where we focus on you as a whole to get your feeling your best.
